making a new website

June 20, 2025

Since early January I have been working on something - a new website.

It’s a stock discussion forum called TickerFeed

The past few months have been a whirlwind of change and exciting new beginnings. After a fulfilling chapter at HashiCorp, the news of the IBM acquisition served as a clear signal for me to pivot and embark on a new adventure. It felt like it was time to step away from the corporate world and build something meaningful.

For years I have been a retail investor - trading stocks on the side almost on a weekly basis - partly for fun - partly for the extra cash. I’d often look to online forums like Reddit for sourcing information about companies and predictions on how certain tickers will perform. But those sites have become degraded in quality, resorting to cheap memes and AI generated content.

In wanting to restore something from the old internet - a place where people can actually talk to one another - I created TickerFeed for promoting real discussion around stocks and the markets at large. My vision is to maintain a focus on the users of the site, not on the advertisers. We all want quality content worth consuming, and I think TickerFeed could be the place to get that for the world of the stock market.

On a personal note, working on the site has been a great opportunity to finally build something with my dream tech stack: Go, HTMX, and SQLite. It’s been quite reqarding to bring this project to life using tools I am passionate about. Maybe I will write a followup blogpost about that soon!
